Harmony One Remote?

Question
Hi, I'm quite new to XBMC so please forgive any stupid questions!!

I have a Harmony One remote that I'm looking to use with XBMC (running on Win 7).

Am I correct in thinking that I can configure XBMC to use a Windows Media Center remote (and then obviously configure the Harmony to act as a MCE remote). If so how is this done?

I currently don't have a MCE remote or most importantly a IR reciever so I will need to purchase one and not use the original remote control, do you have any recommendations of one I can get (in the UK) or if there are any receivers that I can buy without a remote as this seems a waste of money.

Secondly (slightly off topic I'm afraid) I also have some X10 control devices that I'm looking to control from the PC with the Harmony remote as I want a single signal to trigger a sequence of X10 commands (the Harmony does this but it can be slow), does anyone know if it is possible to extend the range of Ir signals received by a standard MCE IR receiver, as I can then chain into those using EventGhost and call the X10 sequences I require.

Thanks

On your first assumption you are correct. I use a Harnmony for one of the boxes and I installed the XBMC add-on MCE and allowed it to do changes to registry. Then all works fine trhough I also have the reciever.

On the other questions I do not know. I have seen a lot of threads refering to ebay for buying the IR reciever and remote (MCE). Perhaps that could be an option...?!

Buy an official MS receiver. Don't buy some cheap clone MCE remote as many are not MS compatible. MS receivers crop up on ebay.co.uk from time to time, or you could always just buy the handset/receiver combination e.g. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?V...0495192466

See http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Usi..._with_XBMC for general blurb about remotes and http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Usi...in_Windows for the MS remote.
