USB IR Receiver with 3.5mm plug
#1
I'm looking for a USB to IR adapter that has a plug in 3.5mm connector (instead of using an IR emitter). Does anyone know if this exists?

I guess I'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish....send or receive? What type of IR receiver/emitter do you want to attach (Xantech compatible? other?)

The USB-UIRT has a 1/8" jack for an emitter as well as the onboard IR receiver. If what you really want is a way to have an external IR RECEIVER that you connect to your dongle with a 3.mm connector, just break out your soldering iron and modify a cheapo MCE receiver.

Use a soldering iron and a 3,5 mm female connector Smile
The built in IR sensors usually have 3 connections, +5v, gnd and data, so hooking up a usb receiver to a different sensor or to a remote output on a receiver is quite simple, as long as you know the pinout.
Reversing the polarity on an IR sensor will destroy it, as I've found out.
