I dislike both choices for the job. I chose a third option: something with a GT4xx GPU.

Poofy: sorry if this is addressed in a different thread... but, what about a Sandy Bridge processor plus an NVIDIA dedicated gpu card using Synergy mobo drivers from Nvidia? This allows gpu switching. This way we get the excellent transcoding performance of the Sandy Bridge platform (using quick sync) and an Nvidia gpu.
Just curious if you've checked this option out... thanks!
