I dont have an apple TV but i use this one in my foxconn 330 which is pretty small footprint:

this one is sata. apple tv needs plain old ide Smile

I used to have one, som KingSpec. I found out that having connected usb hub with external power supply isn't good for flash memory in your atv. My ssd got fried, I think they work on they same 5v line as usb.

But overall performance was nice, now I'm running on 8gb 600x CF card, even better. In case of using CF card one has to use linux kernel higher than 2.6.24 (as per ubuntu 8.04lts) to avoid udma/33 bug.
