Only just discovered thiis wonderful piece of open source software.
I am running XBMC standalone on Ubuntu 10.10 64bit on a Compaq Pressario V3000 using s-video out.
After some work on xorg.conf and upgrading to Dharma RC1 beta4 via PPA
video play back is pretty smick.
Sound is not. I'm using the analogue out on the laptop.
Have tried every available combination of settings both in ubuntu and
XBMC but the sound although loud enough is distorted.
Sound play back via other apps is fine.
Tried XBMC live on cd with the same resulting sound issue.
Used the most recent Boxee Box pc software download (which I assume is XBMC) same issue.
XBMC log file shows sound stream starting ok so no help from there.
Anyone have any ideas. The XBMC FAQ'S and forum have little to say on sound related issues especially in linux. In theory it should just work.
Ahh yes container or audio format makes no difference. FLAC and mp3 audio files sound the same as well.
wobbly sound output but only from xbmc
