wow fishoil chill out mate, logging in as root isn't likely his issue and saying he screwed things up is a bit OTT.
Coendeurloo a fresh install is an option. What i would do is backup my current install using something like clonezilla then install a fresh copy of xbmclive and see how it runs vanilla for a while (not having anything else added, i.e. sab, sickbeard, coachpotato etc). If that runs fine then introduce back some of your programs and see if anything triggers the same issues.
Backup your .xbmc to a remote location before doing this and restore it ONLY after you've tried the fresh install for a while, this makes sure you are 100% clean from the get go. Then copy your .xbmc back into your home folder, and test test test. If this works well then slowly introduce your programs back onto the system.
