No sound using XBMC Live
#1
Hi,

I have a problem. I'v installed XBMC Live on an old computer of me so i can use as a Media Center. But after installing XBMC Live I don't have sound. I allready checked the system settings but nothing works.

I also tryied installing Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. I have sound there but after installing the graphics drivers I get the error message "XBMC needs hardware accelerated OpenGL rendering. Install an appropirate graphic driver".

My system specs are:
Intel Core 2 Duo E6300 @ 1.86 Ghz
Asus P5VD2-MX
1GB DDR 2
Asus HD3850

Please Help

Dude, more specifics...

Are you using HDMI out for audio? or are you using onboard sound??

I don't care what ATI/NVidia fanboys argue about, but the fact is ATI suck at linux support, you may have more luck getting a cheapo nvidia 220, I have never used ATI for their lack of linux support, maybe there is info here about getting your card supported under ubuntu, have a look at the ubuntu forums also, ppl are very helpfull over there...

Are your outputs listed correctly (and not muted) in the XBMC audio mixer??

what is your output of aplay -l

what have you tried?? etc etc...
