Video delay issues
#1
Ever since I installed and configured my eeeBox/Ubuntu/XBMC setup I've had delay issues. For most videos (for example Dexter x264 HDTV rips, 30 Rock xvids) there is a constant delay of the video of about 200ms.

If it were truly constant for all vids, I could just set the default audio delay to 200ms. However, for some movies (e.g. Wall Street 2 1080p HDChina rip) there is no video delay.

When watching the same videos on a PC, there are no delay issues at all for any of them.

First of all, is this amount of delay typical for my setup (details see below)? Is there a way to get rid of them? I've tried changing the audio sync method from audio clock to video clock in the play back settings, but this didn't help.

I would be glad to know if anyone else has the same problem and if someone knows a solution for this. Even if there's no other way than setting the delay in XBMC manually, I would still like to understand where the delay comes from.

Thanks!

My setup:
Linux 2.6.32-27-generic-pae #49-Ubuntu 10.04
NVRM version: NVIDIA UNIX x86 Kernel Module 260.19.29 Wed Dec 8 12:09:09 PST 2010
GCC version: gcc version 4.4.3 (Ubuntu 4.4.3-4ubuntu5)
XBMC Version: XBMC 10.0 r35648
alsa-driver-1.0.23
PC: Asus Eee Box EB1501P-B002E
TV: Samsung UE46C8700
Receiver: Onkyo TX-SR608 (eeeBox with HDMI through receiver)

System installed through RPM more or less as explained here; got newest updates from ppa:ubuntu-x-swat/x-updates.

My logs:
