what should the trailer button link to ?

Might be entertaining to have a folder called new trailers and link up with a homepage button that plays a random trailer, or trailers. I already have a link to such a folder, but it doesn't auto-play any of the trailers within.

i think the only way to get things to auto-play in xbmc is to create a playlist for it and link that to the home menu.
