Hi.

Is anyone else having issues with WMV HD files. I have quite a few and they are all really choppy with intermittent sound. The files I have are mainly VC1 with multi-channel wma pro sound tracks in 720 and 1080. All are unwatchable. On my Mac, they playback flawlessly through XBMC. Is it just that the Apple TV is not powerful enough for WMV HD? Thanks.

PS: Thanks for this great software. As soon as I read about it, I went and bought an Apple TV straight away! Was on the verge of getting a Boxee Box too. Near miss!

Hardware decoding only works for h264 files. Everything else (XviD, DivX, WMV) is processed by CPU, which means that non h264 HD videos don't work very well. Standard definition should work...

Arse. Is it possible that they can add support for formats other than h264 to the gpu?

Possible, but we are in the early days of development. The developers and hackers will need time to see what they can get the GPU to do.

I'd suggest that it's unlikely that HD WMV would be HW accelerated by the chipset, so I wouldn't hold much hope for that.

Plain MPEG4 type 2 (xvid/divx) may be doable.

WMV and VC1 might never get hw decode acceleration.
