[AppleTV2] How do I update XBMC on ATV2 when an update become available?
#1
Question
This is probably a dumb question, but how does one go about updating to any newer versions of xbmc for apple tv 2G? Eventually a newer version must come out, so how do I get the latest when it does?

My default way of knowing if a new release is out is either
a) check the forum. If someone is talking about an update then i usually assume there is a new release
b) every day putty (or other method of ssh) into the device..
apt-get update
apt-get upgrade
if it says there is an upgrade from XBMC then i type yes

You can already install it if you pay for it, but it is still in beta.

They are basic upgrades to the core files in unix.... zip and others.. doesnt seem to hurt if you hit yes..

Yes you can do it wirelessly but it can't be done from within XBMC. Check out the stickies at the top of this forum about how to install. You can skip to the part about "Installing the Latest Nightly Build".
