[AppleTV2] Live TV?
#16
I made this for those of us using tvheadend for streaming TV to Atv2. it is a remapped remote control settings file with up/down set to skip to next/previous track in a playlist. This makes changing TV channels with tvheadend easier on the appletv remote.

Hope this helps someone.

QUOTE: Name it joystick.AppleRemote.xml and put it in your userdata/keymaps-folder.
That way, if you update XBMC, it doesn't get overwritten.

With thanks to Fire69 for the original notes on how to achieve these changes...

Thanks.
I've been all day trying to do that.
However, I can't get everything works fine.
Skipnext and Skipprevious button only works with .m3u playlist, but not with .xsp.
Its not a problem of your .xml file, also happen in XBMC Windows version.
I've created one .xsp playlist for videos and other one for my live TV channel's, received by UPNP from my NAS server.
If I press skipnext button during playback, XBMC return to the item list of that playlist. If pulse skipprevious, XBMC repeat video or live tv channel again.

If playlist is m3u, everything works fine, but "view "options are very limited, only list and thumbnail, and so I prefer .xsp format.

I appreciate your help.
Thanks.

digitaldesaster Wrote:i tested manually streaming from vdr.

copied the streaming url from webfrontend (VDR-Live) to any
.strm file

http://192.168.178.2:3000/TS/S19.2E-1-1101-28106

it works but after a few seconds the stream has to be buffered...

starting a recording on the vdr an then play the "timeshifted"-recording seems to work without problems.. So "manually-timeshifted" TV ist possible :-)

Hi dd

Are there any news on that? I´d really like to see HD content from TVHeadend using XBMC on ATV2....

Hi DD

Why can you see the file and I cant?
how do you access your files? Are they also on a NAS?

Can I use Apple TV 2 as frontend of Media Portal (TvServer) backend?

My NAS run Windows 7 and I can watch live tv in ATV 2 by DvbViewer Recording Service Upnp protocol, but I want to have more possibilities, like epg guide or a basic OSD.
Is our ATV2 ready to work like MediaPortal pvr client?

Thanks.

Hi,

I have Mediaportal running in my house and serving it up to 3 other clients.
I would like to change to ATV for the 3 client front ends. And stream Live TV to them from the MPServer. (Not worried about the EPG for the Clients, or the ability to record, just watch)

Could you point me in the right direction for getting this up and running on an AppleTV 2?

Regards

Hi all,

Got my first ATV2 today after my old XBOX running XBMC died, was using the old XBOX with XBMC to watch Live TV from DVB Viewer Recording Service on my Server which worked really well through Upnp.

Now with ATV2 it has taken me almost a day and allot of Googling to figure out how to get Live TV on it but got it sorted now, my DVB Viewer Recording Service did not need to be changed at all however I found the latest Build of XBMC (10.0.9) for ATV2 has Upnp problems and it seems to be broken, the version you want to use it 10.0.7 but before installing the older version a full uninstall of the newer version is required through nitoTV.

To install the older version I downloaded the 10.0.7 deb from here http://ftp.heanet.ie/mirrors/xbmc/apt/at...os-arm.deb then SSH it into the /var/root/Media/Cydia/AutoInstall folder, close the SSH connection and reboot the ATV2 from nitoTV Settings, the ATV2 will reboot a couple of times and you will have XBMC 10.0.7 installed with working Live TV over Upnp.

The only drawback is there is no EPG or Recording function, I think with the version 11 release of XBMC on ATV2 we may see a PVR option added and if this is the case I will move to MediaPortal for Live TV with EPG and Recording in XBMC.

Hope this has helped someone, thanks.

Just to confirm in XBMC highlight settings and press right arrow and select system info the build I have is "XBMC PRE-10.0 Git:4b032be (Compiled : Feb 19 2011) if yours is different after following the instructions in my last post try the following please.

Be on your ATV2's main screen and SSH into your ATV2 and go into /private/var/mobile/Library/Preferences/ and in there you will see a folder for XBMC, rename this folder XBMC.old once done close your SSH connection and open XBMC again on ATV2 and you should be on the older build now, once you have confirmed all is working you can go back in and delete the XBMC.old folder and its contents.

Let me know if you have any problems.
