[LIVE] HDMI 1080p Problems
#1
Hi there....

I´m running the XBMC Live-version Dharma on a Zotac ION F-Series with 2GB RAM and local HDD

I´ve got a problem to get 1080p on my TV if an amp (Rotel RSP 1570) is connected between the XBMC (LIVE-Version Dharma 10, stable release) and the tv.

If the XBMC is directly connected to tv via HDMI, I get 1080p and all is fine. But with the amp I only get 720p on my screen. In this configuration (XBMC->amp->TV), the highest resolution that I´m able th choose, is 1280*720. Removing the amp enables resolutions up to 1920*1080.

If I start up the XBMC (directly connected to the TV), choosing 1920*1080 and connect the amp (without rebooting XBMC) I get the 1080p on my TV. After rebooting XBMC it´s the same problem like before...only 720p

The amp is not the problem...do I connect a blue ray player to the amp, I get 1920*1080 on my tv. So I think the problems are caused by the XBMC.

I read something about changing/modifing some lines in the xorg.conf, but I don´t know which lines to midify or what I have to change.

Including the option "Option “DynamicTwinView” “false” " under the "Screen" section in xorg.conf won´t help (it was already set after installing Dharma 10).

So I hope I can get some help from here.

Please excuse the probably bad english....I´m from germany Wink

Thank you in advance
Greetings
David

It seems like your amp sends the wrong EDID information.
You need to add the correct modelines to your xorg.conf (and create xorg.conf if it's missing, /etc/X11/xorg.conf).
Preferrably you connect your XBMC box directly to your TV and write down the dorrect EDID information and generate the modelines from that information.
If you search the forum I'm sure that you will find a thread covering how to start X in verbose mode, get EDID timings and setting up modelines in xorg.conf.
I don't remember how =(

Good luck!

Hey, thanks for the answer....

I searched along and found this:

http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...=xorg.conf

Do you think it is possible to copy and paste the xorg.conf shown in the thread above and use it for mine?

It depends on your hardware. You could also get in trouble with wrong HorizSync and VertRefresh settings.
The modelines however are standard and should be OK to use as long as your TV doesn't require specific settings.

This guide covers how to create a proper xorg.conf and works good:

I had some problems afterwards (nVidia GT210 card) so I started this thread:
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=84724
That thread covers which options in xorg.conf that got me perfect playback (if you get judder etc).

ok thanks

I will take the script from your link. Think that will work on Dharma.

Lot of thanks for that
