[Linux]No analog sound with video's
#1
I'm having a problem getting analog sound output from video's using 10.0, the menu sounds and the sound outside of xbmc is working fine. I have used mplayer with the same settings which also works fine.

I'm using archlinux x86_64 which is up to date as of this morning, i have used the arch packagemanager to install XBMC(revision unknown, build date 14 jan).
The configuration files have been removed so xbmc should be in its default settings.

Here's all the relevant info:

Asound.conf: http://pastebin.com/KYSW7uAX

Xbmc.log:http://pastebin.com/WcSU8uGs

System: Core2duo 3.0ghz, 4Gb Ram, Asus p5n7a, Asus Xonar D2X.

I have been messing with this the whole day now and it's getting a bit frustrating, i would appreciate any help with this, thank you!

I had a problem at least with the same symptoms on an Arch machine.
Starting xbmc in a console (and the error logs in my $HOME) showed ALSA errors with dmix: (snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to open slave
The ALSA wiki than got me to run 'fuser -v /dev/snd/*' which showed, that pulseaudio was running which blocks ALSA at least regarding xbmc. Killing pulseaudio with 'start-pulseaudio-x11 -k && pulseaudio -k' did the job. I have sound for menu, music and video in xbmc. Smile

Perhaps this can help you with your problem.
