[REL] PleXBMC
I have gone through this forum, and I have not seen an answer. I had PLEXBMC working just fine, then as of last week, I can not see my channels anymore. I have uninstalled and installed the addin, verified the Plex Server is current. and still not able. PlexHelper does start and is running. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Running Kodi (14.0 Git:20141223-ad747d9). Platform: Windows NT x86 32-bit
Running PleXBMC: 3.4.5

Hi All,

I have started using pleXBMC and it is awesome. One (potentially trivial) question. I would like to use it to watch Jon Stewart, but full episodes are not present, however, if I run Plex through Plex for Home Theater full episodes are an option. Am I missing something obvious? Watching HGTV instead e.g. has full episodes.

Thanks,
Klaus

Ok plexbmc people I have a new issue thats just cropped up. I have been using PleXBMC for over a year now with my openelec boxes and all has been tickety boo.

I have decided that I need an all in one box that can handle online streaming services such as Netflix and Amazon as I have active accounts for both. I have since got a Fire TV. Rather than use the gimped Plex App I would rather use PleXBMC as XBMC is a far better player, does not require transcoding and I need 5.1.

Sideloaded latest Kodi 14.1.0 for android on to the AFTV and installed the 3.5.5. version of PleXBMC. All seems to work ok and finds the server no issues. Its all pretty quick thumbnails cache quickly and I can boot straight to XBMC and add shortcuts to Netflix in Amber which is awesome.

However I am noticing intermittent frame skips when playing any media media at any res or framerate (all MKV) via the PleXBMC plugin. If I go via XBMC direct using SMB to my server its as smooth as silk (as smooth as 60fps allows for 23.976 material that is) and no skipping. Checking the codec info when playing in Ok plexbmc people I have a new issue thats just cropped up. I have been using PleXBMC for over a year now with my openelec boxes and all has been tickety boo.

Any one else using an AFTV and PleXBMC and noticing anything similar? Could it be because its streaming via http and its causing some network issues with the AFTV. I am going to try and mount the server paths locally via XBMC so I can use SMB for PleXBMC rather than the default http as I believe you it does this according to notes on the git site, and see if that helps.

Any other ideas would be appreciated. I have pretty much tried everything I can think off and recommended on XBMC support site for Android. XBMC it shows no dropped frames but I am definitely seeing them.

I have unsuccessfully tried to get PleXBMC working under Kodi on Windows 8 with a remote database at a friends house, and continues to get 'Script error' no matter what I do. Having read a lot of posts it is still a bit unclear to me what the status of the PleXBMC plugin is.
The first post was last updated March 20th 2013 and refers to PleXBMC under XBMC 12/Frodo, so I wonder if anyone has the answer to the following questions:

1) I see some people has PleXMBC working on Kodi, although page 1 and the PleXBMC wiki only refers to XBMC Frodo or Gotham. However, does it work on remote databases on Kodi? Does it work with remote databases at all?

1a) If not, would it be possible to connect to a remote database via a browser? Like the NetfliXMBC add on?

2) Has the PleXBMC plugin any problems with Windows 8?

3) A lot of people sees to uses older versions of PleXBMC (3.4.3). Why is that? What is working in the older versions that is not working in the newest? (I have tried version 3.4.5, 3.4.6 beta 3, and 3.4.3 without any success [https://github.com/hippojay/plugin.video.../releases]). When installing an older version of PleXBMC, one user wrote that he had to 'purge all files' from the newer version. How do i do that and is it necessary to do when installing older versions of add-ons?

4) Is the PleXBMC still being developed? I know Hippojay took over from the original developer Magnesium. Is he still working on it?

It would be great if anyone could update page 1 and/or the PleXMBC wiki with link to the all versions, link to the official thread, known issues and so on...

Hello all, my apologies if this has been answered already; I couldn't find it.

How does one access Kodi settings when PlexBMC is installed? Under the Settings shelf I just see "PlexBMC Settings". (I am using the Amber skin.)

just curious if this makes sense to anyone. It appears when xbmc plays a video outside of plexbmc, so just native video playback.

Is amber the only compatible skin? I am looking for aeon nox. I found one but it was designed for media browser but has some bugs with Plex.

Black Glass Nova also works with plex.

Just an issue i've found, whenever i start music playback, plexbmc helper stops, have to disable/enable for it to work again. Anyone else found this issue? Running latest release.

Hi hippojay,

you have created a great add-on thank you Smile

I have a folder in Plex called "Downloaded Tv shows" (ones I watch and them delete). I would like to added the On deck menu to my "Downloaded Tv shows" on XBMC as a sub menu. I noticed back in this thread you provide a member with the activewindow code. will this work for me? (not at home this week to try)

I'd really appreciate it
cheers

Quick question, when using the 'Recently Added' shelf for TV Shows, it shows the programme poster, not the individual season poster as displayed via the Plex app itself. Is it possible to add this option or does it exist somewhere in setup?

Many thanks

I'm experiencing a few issues. I've honestly had several issues, and had given up on trying to use PleXBMC several times recently, but thought I'd try again. I now have PleXBMC mostly operational, despite a few small things.

First, my basic configuration information: I use Plex Media Server and Kodi on the same PC. This PC is running Windows 8.1 x64 with Media Center. I have a PlexPass and am the administrator of a Plex Home. I'm currently using PleXBMC 3.6.1 with Kodi 14.2 and Amber 2.0.12 as my skin. I have Bonjour installed for the purpose of enabling Zeroconf.

My first problem was getting PleXBMC to recognize and access my Plex server. I don't know if it has something to do with the fact that I use Plex Home (as I've read somewhere there are sometimes issues) or if it's something unrelated, but I can't afford to disable it at the moment to test, as a friend streams from my home and can only use the PS3 app while linked to my account (because it is in beta and available to accounts with a Plex Pass or to members of a Plex Home only). There were several possible outcomes. If I set server discovery to "Auto (GDM)" and populated my MyPlex username and password, PleXBMC would throw a script error whenever I try to load the addon, even if I manually selected my current master server. If I set server discovery to manual and leave localhost as the primary server address, PleXBMC no longer threw any errors. It showed each of my libraries as available, but when I accessed the libraries, they all appeared empty. Given that Kodi and my Media server are on the same PC, I would've expected that to work. If I changed the primary server address to my local network IP, my libraries are finally accessible.

Next up, and most important to me at the moment, PleXBMC doesn't seem to respect my audio and subtitle selector setting (Plex Control) if I change the other Playback settings. I tried changing Quality to 1920x1080, 40MBPS and to 1920x1080 Unlimited. Whenever I do that, videos I play return to the default audio and subtitle tracks, rather than the ones I have selected in Plex Media Server. If I don't change those settings, PleXBMC plays the subtitle and audio track I have selected in Plex Media Server.

Last, there are two other small things that I suspect are probably related to Amber, not PleXBMC, but I'll post them here just in case. Banners aren't loading at all in Amber- there are just blank outlines where the banner should be. Also, on the main menu, Amber shows the same recently added content for all of my music libraries, even though they have no files in common.

Edit: After a bit more playing around, somehow or another I managed to get the subtitle and audio track to follow what is set on my Plex Media Server. Everything else resolved itself when I upgraded from the stable 14.2 release to the latest nightly for 15 (with a clean install and full reconfiguration). I also made some changes to my firewall, so it's possible that those changes could have impacted the "Auto GDM" setting. I didn't think to test that until I'd already upgraded, as the changes I made were for a different purpose (remote control functionality with the Yatse remote app). I think I'd tried setting up PleXBMC with my firewall temporarily paused before and it still wasn't working, but I spent so much time fooling around that I'm not honestly sure what all I did and didn't try.

I still have a couple questions though:
1. Is there any way to get the remote functionality with the official Plex App working with the latest PleXMBC? I have PleXBMC Helper installed, but my mobile app doesn't find Kodi in the remote player list.
2. Is there any chance you'll be releasing an updated modification of the Aeon Nox skin? It is by far my favorite skin, but Amber seems to be the only up-to-date skin with full PleXBMC integration.
3. Is this the best place to ask future questions about PleXBMC or should I ask in another thread (e.g. the one on the Plex forums)?

Edit 2: Even with PlexBMC's Audio and Subtitle Selector set to "Plex Control", Kodi's settings still seem to be applied often, but not always. I'm not sure why this is happening... If I had to guess, when the file isn't being transcoded, it is directly processed as if it were an external file, completely bypassing the Plex Media Server and fetching the file directly from the location it gets from Plex via PleXBMC and letting Kodi decide what audio and subtitle track to activate. It's a bit irritating because selecting a specific language in Kodi's settings isn't really the solution for me. When I rip my files, I keep both tracks because I share my Plex Media Server with a family member who prefers all English audio, and I watch some of my shows in English, others subbed. I've selected the proper languages for many shows already in my server and just wish Kodi would respect them.

Anyway, I don't mean to sound ungrateful. My irritation with the things that don't seem to be working as expected does not change the fact that I am very grateful that you've made PleXBMC. I realize that this must've taken you a lot of work and you've released it for free, so thank you very much. I greatly appreciate it.

Thanks again!

Edit 3: After watching a movie today, PleXBMC began showing errors again and GDM Discovery once again doesn't work.

Not sure if this has been addressed in the past, but is there any chance we could see Shuffle show up in the near future. I really love just shuffling an entire show like South Park.

I just want to make sure this is the right addon for me to install on Kodi.

Does this addon automatically synch (push and pull) TV show progress (minutes remaining for a TV show to end) with Plex? I've tried doing this with the trakt.tv plugin; but, all it does is just toggle the Watched status.

All I want to do is just continue watching a TV show where I left it off; whether it's in Plex or Kodi.

Here's the official wiki page ...

http://kodi.wiki/view/PleXBMC

In my own words ...

PleXBMC is a Plex client that runs as a video add-on in KODI and works like any other Plex client (running on Android, Roku, Web browser, etc).

It plays media from your Plex server and will keep track of your progress on the Plex server (so you can continue watching on any other Plex client connected to the same server).

Optionally, you can install the trakt plugin on your Plex and/or KODI server to report (track) what you watch on the trakt database (independently).

Personally, I do not use the trakt plugin.

More on PleXBMC here ...

I hope this helps.
