Out of the blue, UI sounds suddenly stopped?
#1
Hey guys, I have my Acer revo setup to output audio through optical. Problem is suddenly I don't get any UI sounds? What should I do? I checked the Audio Mixer and nothing but the "mic" is muted. Sound outputs fine with all videos, its just I can't seem to get UI sounds to work anymore. Any ideas?

Try "iecset audio on" in the console.

Hmm after doing that I saw Master and Front pop up in the audio mixer and they were muted, unmuted them and restarted and it worked! Any idea why this happened in the first place so I can try my best to prevent it?

XBMC will turn on passthrough in the alsa device, if XBMC crashes or something else goes wrong, the alsa device will never go out of passthrough mode, even after a reboot.
I consider this to be an alsa bug.

Ah I see, so basically if this ever happens again thats all I have to do is run that line of code again and reboot. Thanks!
