Okay guys and girls, my linux noobnes works against me still
but im getting better

I have installed the launcher plugin and it works okay.
i have also installed the sdlmame by doing a sudo apgt-get install sdlmame

When i fire up the launcher i need to browse my linux system for the executable in this case the sdlmame. But here my problem starts, the browser in
xbmc no matter what skin i use does not show me the complete directories in my linux distro. The only folder i can see from xbmc is my /home folder

So how on earth can i browse to /usr/games/sdlmame

Maybe im just to noob to understand but im not able to
use any executables with the launcher if i cant see all my directories

okay did the reasearch myself.

i symlinked the mame exutable dir and roms dir to my home folder.

now i can select this trough the launcher plugin.

problem now is that i get just a black screen.
if i add the sdlmame as game launcher it lists all my rom files, but when i select a game, i get a black screen and everything hangs.

if i try to start the sdlmame as standalone PC exutable same thing.

I can see that i have an option to pass command line args for the application... do i need to add any special args for sdlmame to work ?

okay guess i gonna do some reaserch myself on this one.
I post update here if i get stuff to work so that other
might use this info without to much work

I'm also looking for a solution to make sdlmame runs on xbmclive..

I came to a conclusion that sdlmame won't run is because of opengl conflict.. when sdlmame tries to steal xbmc's session, everything goes to hell.. :confused2:

Wish there was a XBMCLive+Mame CD out there somewhere....?

mame working perfectly on jaunty, but not sdlmame! xmame! and not full jaunty, minimal with fluxbox. use search for the perfect mame comand line with parameters...it's in a "launcher" related thread if I remember correctly.

By perfectly I mean games launch fullscreen - no desktop seen in between - and same thing when you press esc and get back to xbmc. so why search other things?
