[LINUX] 64bit Poor quality Music playback
#1
I can hear 'clicks' or 'pops' when playing audio files in the Music player. The artifacts are fairly frequent with one or two clicks per second. This only happens under when using the Music player. Regular stereo audio in Video files is fine, DTS and Dolby Digital passthrough also work fine. Other audio players such as Rhythmbox, gmusicplayer, totem, and mplayer play the same files fine. Happens with mp3's and Flac files (haven't tried anything else). Also happens with the Icecast plugin. I have tried adding the resample 48KHz to advancedsettings.xml. I verified the change took effect with my receiver (Onkyo SR805), but the poor sound quality persists. Audio connection is hdmi.

I was using Fedora 14 x84_64 and the rpmfusion xbmc build (Verion 10.0) installed via YUM. Current kernel version is 2.6.35.10.

I also tried "XBMC Live" and it does *not* have the problem.

I tried Fedora Rawhide x86_64 (same XBMC version) with kernel 2.6.38 rc2, and it still had the problem.

I installed the 32-bit xbmc build from rpmfusion on top of the 64-bit OS (which required 128 dependencies) and the problem does *not* happen. This is actually a sufficient workaround for me for now, but I figured I would report the problem anyway.

Hardware: Intel i3 530, 4GB RAM, Gigabyte H55M-S2H (H55 Express Chipset) - using integrated Clarkdale video

Probably the same issue as http://trac.xbmc.org/ticket/11129

Makes sense. Sorry, I searched Trac, but I didn't find that one. Thanks.
