I miss this forum.
Now that I run linux on my atv1 (thanks to all the helpful souls here) I apparently have to move on to the linux forum. well, that kind of sucks in lots of ways.
first, I feel like I have a lot more in common with someone running a patchsticked osx on an atv1 than I do somebody running xbmc on archlinux on a quadcore.
second, there are some fundamental similarities between all atv1 owners regardless of the os - we use a severely under powered computer - basically an appliance - so tweaking tiny things to get a little more oomph is what we're all about. A general linux forum isn't going to be as interested in our incremental tweaks.
And third, getting Linux to run on an atv1 in the first place is it's own 1600 post thread which was growing ungainly and certainly merited a place of it's own - which apparently was the Linux forum where it was moved --and closed.
So yeah I'm bitching a little. I think the atv1, due to it's current cheapness and hackability should have a special place. I'm not sure it should be in the old osx forum - but it doesn't really belong in the genpop linux forum either.
I apologize if this appears to be a cross post but it really is not - my first was a brief suggestion in the Linux forum where it was ignored (like most atv1 questions) so I thought posting it here may find some interest.
food for thought maybe.
