How to start python coding?
#1
Hi,

im searching for something like a "Hello World" pyhton Script with a Contextmenu integration to start learning phyton for xbmc...

What i like to do is to code a burner script that allows us to burn
cd/dvd/br directly from xbmc (db or fileview > contextmenu)
based on cdrtools that are available for all bs.

Actually i really know nothing about phyton...

Iam only experienced in Delphi but this is useless here Smile

Pick on existing working add-on, study it and then start changing it to do something else.
I recommend the debug log add-on since the structure is good.

Hi,

thanks for your answers, what do you guys think about an burning-addon?
Would it be usefull for the most? I only want to start trying that if someone
really needs or want it.

no you might be thinking of luemmels dvd ripper

look in this sticky for guides.

i knew no python or coding (apart from applescript which doesn't really count lol) four months ago, and learnt how to make plugins from the voinage guide. now i have made quite a good plugin. plugins are a bit easier than scripts. i reccommend starting with a plugin.

I asked about resources for learning python on lifehacker.com a few weeks back and was recommended this book quite a lot:

Its free to read online or download, and is available as a book too. Just thought I'd mention it in case you were interested in getting some more general Pyton information as well.
