Maplin RC118 remote
#1
Hello,

I'm using this remote on Dhama running on top of 10.10.

Volume/mute/play stop pause, ff/rw and the arrow keys and enter work fine.
None of the other buttons work.

I'd like to remap OK to be the same as the enter button (as its in the middle of the arrow keys and enter is down the bottom) and ideally have the number keypad input alphanumeric codes for quick searches.

I'd also like the back button to be the equivilent of right click, and the info button to bring up the info screen.

I downloaded a the keyboard.xml file for the remote from one site, but it didnt seem to work, although it seemed to be aimed at xbmc for windows and had some registry files to install as well.

Also as I'm running 10.10 LIRC is not installed as support is built into the kernal so I can't use that to reprogram it either.

Anyone any ideas?

Thanks

Does the remote send keyboard events for the buttons that doesn't work? Can you check that with xev?

hmm don't seem to get anything back from xev when i press the keys that don't work - ? I'm guessing thats bad?

I primarily bought it because of this:

Apparently its the best you can buy after Microsoft discontinued their own?

fixed it - I was waylaid by some articles saying that lirc didn't work on 10.10 or that you had to black list the internal ir driver in the kernal.

In fact - sudo apt-get install lirc

and then setting the remote as Windows Media in the LIRC setup and now everything works as it should!
