I've been using xbmc for ages now, but these past few days, it seems to not play many movies, i have tried various movies, and i get the working logo spinning for 30 seconds or so, then i get the 'one or more items failed to play', this is odd since i installed VLC, and it plays the same movies straight away what xbmc couldn't play......
Has anyone any ideas, running transparency skin.
Thanks

hi elite, the movies are stored within the htpc, on a seperate hard drive to the OS etc.
As for the types, ranges..AVI, MP4, XVID etc,
Not looked at the firewall, as it plays tv shows not a problem.
So stuck at moment, at least am not the only one!!

Had a play around, have transferred a movie that wouldn't play in xbmc, but would with vlc, to another hard drive, xbmc scanned, and when i selected it to play, it played straight away??
How come not from one hard drive, but it would from another?? Yet, i haven't altered any settings i know off?

Ok, i just installed Boxee, and it plays every single movie first time, straight away, so i know the movies are fine, the problem lies with xbmc, seems odd that something thats used everyday, can suddenly go tits up!!

Not sure why, but i went to video>files, and every movie played straight away, but in movies.library, they wouldn't play, same error, one or more items failed to play!
Any Ideas??

Thanks elite for this insight, not a clue either, i mean its used every single day, without fail, and for it to behave like this is annoying, and yet, another hard drive with only tv shows on, avi, mp4, it plays straight away??
bloody odd!!

I'd guess there's something screwed in your library. I'd export the library, backup your %appdata%\xbmc\userdata\database folder then delete it. Start XBMC and try a quick scan and see if the films play.
Assuming the films now play try importing the library you exported in step 1.
