[LINUX]Performance issues while running XBMC
#1
Hi

I'm running two separate X screens, with XBMC on plasma TV while working on primary monitor. I've run into a minor issue, where all menus in gnome (application menus etc) become noticeably sluggish whenever XBMC is running on the other screen. Doesn't matter if it's playing anything or not. XBMC itself runs great, no performance issues at all, it's just the rest of my computer that doesn't seem to like having it running. It's not eating any CPU or RAM or anything, and yet...

Same issue exists in both Ubuntu 10.10 and Arch Linux updated yesterday. My computer is a intel quad core at 3ghz, 6gb ram, and Nvidia 9600GT. Tried two different drivers for the Nvidia card as well, but doesn't appear to make a difference.

Any help greatly appreciated

Edit: Just noticed that the sluggishness disappears while a movie is playing. But the moment there are any xbmc ui elements (for instance, movie is paused and the small pause window is visible) things slow down again on my primary screen.

Edit2: Well, seems it doesn't really matter if I run it on second screen or not. Same slowdown occurs even if running in the background on primary monitor.
