[Live] Self-burned DVDr issues
#1
XBMC-Live 10, stock kernel (2.6.32, I've tried various kernels to no avail).
I'm having issues with a bunch of DVD+R discs that I've burned. I've looked into the various subsystems that are used to play DVDs and have searched the web. I have a ASUS DRW-24B1ST writer/burner. I know that it supports the discs that I have burned because I can manually mount them and read them.
  • This happens with both dual layer and single layer DVD+Rs.
  • XBMC will recognize that they are there but refuses to play them as DVDs.
  • XBMC will browse the disc's file structure by going through the Video selection on the main menu and selecting the disc name.
  • In some cases XBMC will show the disc name but state that the "remote share" cannot be found.
  • They play fine on consoles.
  • They play fine on Windows.
  • They mount fine and play fine in a full Ubuntu distribution using another vid player (Brasero I think...) as vid dvds. XBMC installed on that same distribution, however, still refuses to play them as vid DVDs.
  • These discs were burned on a Windows machine using CDBurnerXP.

I've ran various tests and am isolating what discs produce the issue, but I'm still looking around. I did reburn a single layer disc with a different program and XBMC did auto play it as a video DVD so I suspect that is the root of the issue.

So essentially, I'm just hoping that somebody can point me in the right direction so that I can avoid having to reburn my entire collection.

A DVD+R that mounts successfully, KICKASS, is in the logs preceded by one that doesn't:

I have many other logs available as well as cut-n-pastes of various commands during my search for the root problem.

KICKASS is a single layer Memorex DVD+R (4.7gb) whereas the Disc that refuses to play is a Memorex DVD+R DL (8.5gb) though there are single layer DVD+Rs that refuse to play as well.

There are differences in how UDisks reads the discs:

Kickass (works):
UDisks: DeviceChanged - DeviceUDI /org/freedesktop/UDisks/devices/sr0: IsFileSystem true HasFileSystem udf IsSystemInternal false IsMounted false IsRemovable true IsPartition false IsOptical true
Disc (Doesnt' work):
UDisks: DeviceChanged - DeviceUDI /org/freedesktop/UDisks/devices/sr0: IsFileSystem false HasFileSystem IsSystemInternal false IsMounted false IsRemovable true IsPartition false IsOptical false

So I guess my basic question comes down to why XBMC recognizes them as data discs as opposed to vid dvds when the file structure is the same? I'm obviously missing something...

Just looking for some ideas.
