Which video formats can I stream to ATV2?

Hi, I'm brand new to XMBC and got my ATV2 yesterday.
1) Which video file formats can I wirelessly stream from my Mac to the ATV2? Does XMBC stream anything?
2) I also have content on a Seagate GoFlex Home drive. Can that be used as a separate source, or does it still have to tie in to the Mac?

Thanks for help with these newbie questions.

XBMC plays content that is not native to ATV2 and its codecs. XBMC has codecs for content encoded in today's most popular container/compressed formats, such as MKV, avi, etc... Take a look at the XBMC Wiki.
