Wondering what people use....
#1
Hey all.

Im wondering what people use to catalog thier dvd collections. I've used dvd profiler for years, but since I've found XBMC, I find myself engrossed in XBMC and "not" adding my movies to the profiler list. This means that the list in my XBMC is accurate, but my printable catalog isnt.

Just made me wonder if anyone else prints out thier dvd list and what cataloging program they use with XBMC to do this task??

Thanks Smile

I have used DVD Profiler in the past too. I don't have much use for it anymore, way out of date with my movies, and no need to spend the time updating. I don't do printed lists anymore either.

i just use a file directory print tool to print out a text list of what i have in my media shares.
but i also organize my movie/tv/ media files and make sure they are named properly before i add them to my server so as a result the text list turns out pretty clean and doesnt require much if any editing.

I myself use Ember Media Manager. It's actually a tool to download covers/fanart and prescrape nfos for xbmc to use. But it also provides the possibility to export your collection as an html list with several templates. It can either be a simple list or something nice to look at and it takes about a Minute to export everything and your done. I put mine online for friends to see here:

Another idea could be http://www.sharethe.tv. All you need is an account and then you download an addon in xbmc and it populates your online list all by itself.

I'm sure there is other ideas tho Smile

Thanks for the suggestions. They are both add-ons for XBMC? They look pretty much like what I was thinking I'd like to incorporate with XBMC. Thanks for the tip!!

I went to look up the Ember Media Manager and the page has been suspended. Is there any other link that I should look to download this??

You could use XWMM and export to HTML.

Yes unfortunately embers developers just went silent and then the page was gone. There is an Ember revisited project in this very forum:
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=90682

But I haven't used it yet. I'm still working with my old ember (as long as it's still working). If that works there will still be some steps left to set up but have a look around and see what must be done. I don't want to start a war here if pre-scraping your movies is better or if you should let xbmc do it Wink

As for your other question, only sharethe.tv is an addon. (program addon to be exact). This one is very simple and quickly done (maybe 5-10 minutes).

Trying to browse this forum for specific answers to things is so exhausting, I appreciate it greatly when someone can pass on thier tip simply enough for me to follow, haha.
