I searched and couldnt find a thread regarding HDMI sound.

My atv is connected optic/coax to soundsystem, with settings 5.1, dts and ac3 on. Even then the sound is coming through HDMI cable connected to TV? I have to turn sound down on tv. Anyone now how to turn the sound of for HDMI?

I have the exact same issue.
Except for me my TV cannot decode AC3 codec (if i remember it was that option)
And so just comes out with a really bad scratchy sound.
If I disable AC3 I get sound through both my AMP and TV.

Stupid question, but if you have a 5.1 sound system in your home theatre why is your tv sound ever on?

Because i watch tv without soundsystem. Its not the point. If I have settings in atv that sound should go optical, it should go only optical and not combine with HDMI. It must take resources from processor and memory to stream both ways.

Its not the problem with shut down tv sound, but more that its a bug and perhaps could be fixed.
