I know I could build it a little cheaper, but seems like a nice deal for pre built. only needing a hard drive.. any opinions? http://cgi.ebay.com/AMD-Fusion-E-350-Min...5d2da2c647

ya ive seen your sig, I know you like to build your own, but some folks dont have time or know how.. just wanted an opinion..

also thinking about the antec case u recomend, with the semperton cpu, hopeing for a core that will unlock, asus motherboard with unlocker, asrock board is OOS. would a semperton single core be faster than a e350 dual core, or atom dual core.?

not if it doesnt unlock Tongue

if you plan on using windows, go with the ZACATE mini-ITX build Smile

only thing left to add is an HDD + RAM ...

most of the job is done for you Smile

according to: http://www.cpubenchmark.net/midlow_range_cpus.html
sempron should be faster than any atom / zacate
btw u can go with asrock e350 and built by your own - it should be a lot cheaper.

Add a SSD for a hard drive and that baby screams.
I really like that board, never seen XBMC run so well.

I'm testing in my NAS right now.
I would like to build a HTPC with this board. Any case suggestions?

I am confused Huh you state you do not wish to tinker with a custom build but you are concerned with purchasing a single-core CPU and attempting to unlock a second core. If anything, this would be way out of your league if you do not want to "hassle" with a custom build.

I do agree though. Some people prefer pre-built solutions and need less control over their build because an ION nettop may fit their needs. For my next XBMC HTPC I plan to purchase a nettop and run OpenELEC on it in my bedroom.
