Autostart XBMC
#1
I am trying to find a way to auto-start XBMC *while* still keeping the full ubuntu desktop.

I am not after replacing it I just want to run it once Ubuntu has loaded up

Thanks

I will look at that, can't believe I missed that.

Where does the program live?

You'll want to kill compiz effects before XBMC starts...

you can check under system -> preferences -> appearance for desktop effects. Turn them off.
ASRock ION 330
Ubuntu 11.10 x86_64 minimal install
xbmc from unstable ppa

Probably at /usr/local/bin/xbmc, but you can check by opening a terminal and typing:

Code:
which xbmc

You could also just use xbmc as it should be in a directory which is on your path.
