Event ghost wont let my MCE remote work alone.
#1
after i first installed xbmc on my laptop, i simply plugged in my (Acer IR reciever that came with another PC i purchased) IR receiver and it worked (not as good and not the way i wanted it to work but it did) good with my philips universal remote set to win MCE code, but it just did not have enough functionality i was constantly having to go to the laptop and use the keyboard to get out of certain menus and such. So after reading on this wonderful forums (i am not being sarcastic i love this place) i found out about eventghost, installed it and have my remote set up almost like i want (scrolling left, right, up, and down fast and smoothly when holding the button is a problem, can't seem to get it set right) so i do plan on purchasing a harmony remote which seems to be the remote of choice around here, and i would like to use it without event ghost since it seems to be a remote that can be configured almost anyway you want, so hopefully i can scroll through long lists much faster and smoother.

How do i get my MCE remote to work again without eventghost? I tried uninstalling eventghost and no luck, i tried it with eventghost not runnning and no luck.

any ideas?

If your remote is an eHome/RC6 remote, and it sounds as though it is, see:
