I tried Mint and Ubuntu yesterday and I couldn't make XBMC play nice with either. I got installed but it would go into an endless loop when trying to install a movie source from my Diskstation 1511+. If I tried to exit, XBMC would just freeze. I ended up just using Windows 8 RTM but I really wanted Linux to work. Any ideas on what the problem might have been? It never did prompt me for authentication for the Diskstation..
