I have xbmc on a laptop in my livingroom and its rather inconvienant to do changes that require a keyboard in the livingroom. is it possible to control it with the computer in my office somehow? change settings, etc, search seems to be acting funny. So i am asking in the forums.

If you're running XBMC on a linux machine you should be able to SSH into it from another PC. This would be good for changing settings in files, etc, but probably not for managing XBMC itself.
For that, you could try looking into piping the laptop's x-server over SSH as well, so that you can run XBMC on the laptop, but display the output on your other machine.
I've never tried it with XBMC, but I've used it in the past to control a machine hooked up to my HiFi running RhythmBox from another room.

There are various remotes in the iOS app store (for iphone, ipod touch, ipad) that would do the trick. Personally, I use Remote Buddy on the computer and its AJAX remote on my iPhone.

That android remote app makes my xbmc go haywire. Works for about 2 minutes then if I hit the wrong button (don't know which one) it goes haywire! Starts scrolling through menus super fast and stuff like that. Maybe I need to reinstall it or configure it differently.
