[old] Unofficial semi-nightly build FAQ/info/issues (here for archival purposes)
jacaru Wrote:I have found something. If I go directly to the .vob file and play it, it plays fine. If I go to the VIDEO_TS folder and play it for the full dvd: the distributor and copyright videoclips play fine. Then I get the dvd language selection menu; and then the main dvd menu videoclip and episodes end up playing slowly at 3fps.

I guess it makes no sense sending you a clip right now. I will try the other change you suggested.

Thank you for posting debug information. As you pointed out the clip plays fine in the file mode, so there is no need to post your sample.
I've also looked at your IOSAudioRingBuffer log and it too looks ok, meaning that the audio patch is not causing the problem.
popcornmix Wrote:I'm finding WEB-DL rips don't play properly with latest (2nd May) nightly.
Here is a log.

Looks like the frames are played out of order producing a very juddery effect.
Latest episodes of Fringe and The Killing both do this. The files both play correctly on Popcorn Hour. I'm on iOS 4.2.1.

I can confirm this is happening with all WEB-DLs. Doesn't matter if they were created yesterday or a year ago they all result in the same stuttering.

peace,

Here's my error log:

09:11:23 T:85217280 M:109101056   DEBUG: CGUIMediaWindow::GetDirectory (sources://video/)

Like I said before, it was there in the April 17 build, but since then, it seems to have been removed. Just wondering if this was on purpose, and I need to find another way to stream video, or if this was an oversight... I hoping the latter.

Step Taken:
1) Go to Video Section
2) Go to Add Source
3) Go to Add another source
4) Select Browse
5) Try to browse for the protocol XBMS

It's not there anymore. I don't know what else to tell you.:confused2:

Looks like Davilla removed support for LibXBMS according to this commit, not sure why

Regards,

thanks, R0MSTER!

Davilla... would it help to know that people might still be using this. I prefer this method of streaming to SMB. i have a lot of trouble even getting my Mac OS X to show up on XBMC; whereas XBMS is flawless!!

but again, I do speak for myself.
Linux Mint 18 LTS 64-bit - Kodi 17 Beta6
Odroid-C2 - Libreelec v7.90.009
LibXBMS was removed due to licensing issue in https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/commit/1424...e13033fe13

https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc/commit/ec7f...db0fe23b46 just cleaned up the xcode projects as there was a ref to the non-existant directory.
I was looking through all the commits, and then got tired. Are SSA subs supported yet?
(just curious) >.>

no.
I can reproduce the crash and wanted to add the corresponding symbolicated crashlog:

http://pastebin.com/Bgud5MMu

@davilla - any chance we get the symbols back in the crashlogs per default?

It crashs in libexif-arm-osx.so ... i'm sorry - but i'm out of time for debugging this thing by myself ... Sad

ricky42 Wrote:Having a problem (xbmc crash) with viewing certain photos using the xbmc Picture viewer.
Initially I couldn't view any photos, then I found that I have to switch off "Show EXIF picture information" in the Settings which I did.
Thumbnails are displayed correctly, but once I get to photos with a certain raw camera format, xbmc crashes and I am back in the atv2 main menu after a lowtide restart.
The photo was taken with a Sony DSC-HX5V (10.2Mpx), while photos with a HDR-SR12E are showing fine.
When using the slideshow, the first few photos (w/o GPS data) are showing fine and the suddenly xbmc crashes (as soon as the first DSC-HX5V photo is to be displayed).

Platform: atv2
iOS: 4.2.1 (4.3) (8F202)
Built on May 2 2011 (Git:20110430-f5e63e6)
nitoTV (0.6.7)
Install Method: dpkg

Sample JPG

Is it maybe GPS related as the photos in question contain GPS data, while the others do not.

One more remark; After I installed (upgrade from 1-April nightly) the previous mid-April nightly version, I got OpenGL errors on every page. Had to delete the OpenGL plugin as I could not find a way to disable it. (sorry no log) ...
Memphiz Wrote:@davilla - any chance we get the symbols back in the crashlogs per default?

Tell me how and I'll make it happen.
Mhh played a bit with project settings but didn't get the symbols into the crash logs. Even compiling the Debug target didn't make this work. Could this be a "feature" of the 4.2.x Apple iOS? *grml*.
Hello guys,
just wanted to report the problem I'm having with playback. The app crashes on all 1080P mkv movies at some point (about 60-80 seconds into a movie),
I also got it crashed on SD .mkv movie as well. Same error every time - frontrow can't allocate enough memory. Here is (hopefully) all required info for the debug.
If needed I can provide any additional info.

@_api_, very nice report. I wish everyone would take this as an example when posting.

Someone is trying to allocate an insane amount of memory.

9409 May 4 15:08:41 Apple-TV com.apple.frontrow[302]: AppleTV(302,0x66a2000) malloc: *** mmap(size=779431936) failed (error code=12)

779431936 (decimal) in hex is 0x2E753000 which looks like memory pointer.

This will be tricky to find. To catch it, would have to disable watchdog, install gdb, attach gdb to the AppleTV pid, run xbmc and when it crashes, it will crash into gdb when you can then do a backtrace all to see why.
Maybe I'm blind, but I was wondering if there are dev environment setup steps for developing XBMC for Apple TV 2gen. I see other environments on the wiki but not that: http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=XBMC_development Or maybe I should just follow Mac instructions? http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=XBMC_for_Mac Please update or throw me a clue Smile Thanks!

Some things are wrong, use 'git clone https://github.com/xbmc/xbmc.git' instead of subversion but that's what I used. There's a thread I started calling 'trying to build ATV2' thats old but has some useful info. good luck.
