[old] Unofficial semi-nightly build FAQ/info/issues (here for archival purposes)

Lawn Gnome Wrote:Just in case you do need another debug log on 4.3.1, here's one from me: http://pastebin.com/m6SkvQha. The symptoms are the same as other people have reported: the file appears to play, but there's no audio.

If not, carry on. Smile

Thx! That's the PwnageTool 4.3.1 untethered JB audio bug tho, not much we can do about it until they fix it. You can revert back to 4.2.1 or go tethered, my seas0npass tethered 4.3.1 JB works great.

No.

Turge Wrote:For the past few revisions of this build, I've had a problem when resuming a particular movie (Little Fockers). When I play the movie from the beginning, the picture displays fine. When I attempt to resume from any point (even after rebooting the ATV2), the movie plays in the background (I can hear the sound) and the picture remains on the library screen. If I select the icon to switch to the video, nothing happens.

Here's the media info data: http://pastebin.com/Nnp4bWSz

And the xbmc.log: http://pastebin.com/zX6w7cs0 (I played the movie from the start, stopped it and resumed from the save point)

Hey Turge can you cut up a sample file? If you don't know how and running win32: http://www.gdgsoft.com/gsplit/ otherwise 'split' in linux/mac works great. Since you state it happens anytime you resume 100mb file should suffice. Make sure to replay the file and verify you have the problem with the sample on the ATV2 and not on your windows build.
Thanks!

Im on the tethered seasonpass now and april 1st nightly, works great, only a few hickups (ill be back with samples and log files later!)

Keith.. I split the MKV using MKVMerge and uploaded the 100MB sample to my Dropbox account: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/7781317/Little%2...29-001.mkv

I wasn't able to get it to resume since it wouldn't create the bookmark so I was therefore unable to replicate the problem with the sample. Here's the xbmc.log showing the bookmark being created for the original movie, but not for the 100MB file I added to the library: http://pastebin.com/nFXkRkY5

Thanks.

Hi, i just bought an ATV2, upgraded to the latest firmware 4 and installed the nightly build on it today... is it normal to have 90% or more cpu utilization in playing a 720p video? Thanks!

I'm not too bothered for the moment, to be honest — I can always play music through the normal AppleTV interface. Feel free to use me as a guinea pig if there are any patched builds that need to be tested. (I'm on IRC, as you know.)

The new untethered jailbreak from seasonpass that was released today fixes the no audio problem.

keith Wrote:No.

Actually, I was able to get it to work with this. WinSCp file into /var/root/Media/Cydia/AutoInstall and then reboot ipad. Everything works great so far, thanks.

Oh, my mistake, glad you figured it out.

Maybe a bigger sample might work? If the problem isn't reproducible with the sample, we can't begin to try to fix it. I have no idea why a bookmark wouldn't set.

*sighs*
If you can't follow simple instructions
PLEASE DO NOT USE THESE BUILDS

DO NOT POST ANY ISSUE WITHOUT A DEBUG LOG, EVER.
ESPECIALLY DO NOT POST ME TOO, +1, SAME HERE POSTS WITHOUT DEBUG LOGS

Look guys, I'm cleaning out like 5-10 threads/day from people who can't follow these simple directions.

I know, 4.3 is out now, so tons of people are using these builds, but if I gotta play traffic cop all the time, it's not worth it.

So please, follow directions.
I specifically mean: catalyst, john.doe, manilu, SavellM, smiley2billion, etc.

Are you going to call up a mechanic and tell them 'hi i have this rattling in my car' and expect them to know exactly what you mean and be able to fix it? That would be silly wouldn't it?
That's how we all feel. We need the logs to figure out the cause of whatever issue you have. I don't care if its similar to another ones.
EVERY ISSUE MUST HAVE A Debug Log.

And please, read the 1st post.

Thanks to dtvviewer, Lawn Gnome, Dazex and of course, the xbmc devs who without them nothing would be possible and anyone else who has patience, answers questions, posts problems with debug logs and generally make the forum a great place to be.
These dudes lead by example and I applaud them.

The rest of you can, I have faith. Just read more. If you're going to post in any thread, READ THE ENTIRE THREAD. Especially the 1st post. I put valid info there for a reason.

dtviewer Wrote:Think I may nuke my whole install and start over.
Not to pressure you, but any idea when a new nightly may drop? If its soon I may wait for it before doing anything drastic.

I do suggest that! You could always just renaming the userdata folder in /var/mobile/Library/Preferences/XBMC?

I won't have a nightly out for awhile, maybe a wk, hopefully sooner. Just got a new place so it's moving time.

Thanks for all the hard work keith, some of us do appreciate it and understand the issues that go along with bleeding edge development.

Look forward to the next build!

While this post might be trashed ... I simply wanted to give some positive feedback.

1. Did a complete ATV 2 restore with 4.3. (8F202)
2. JB using the new untethered Seas0npass (0.7.4 (66)) and BlackBerry micro USB cable
3. Login root with ssh
4. Installed XBMC nightly (latest_atv2.deb - 01-Apr-2011 18:33)
5. Installed nitoTV (0.6.7) (using BTStack with Apple kb & mouse)

XBMC, Platform: Mac OS X (11.0.0 AppleTV2,1). Built on Apr 1 2011 (Git:20110401-97b5e9f)

This build is so far working fine for me. Video add-ons including youtube, TED, etc are working fine.
Had issues with the start up time of movies with the previous nightly, which might be related that there were too many files within a single directory. Reduced the number of files and with this nightly movies start fast.
Enjoying more and more XBMC.

Thanks!
