Your method worked perfectly. The transcoded files are perfect quality to my eye at least.

Thanks alot for your help.

Media player classic now plays interlaced VC1 with dxva so I'm hoping it will come to xbmc soon. Had my hopes up it would be in Eden but no luck.

My only issue with transcoding the files to deinterlaced h264 is the loss of temporal resolution. The interlaced 29.97 content is best viewed at 59.94 "frames" per second but if you deinterlace using that method and encode to h264 you're left with a similar situation where very little will play it, at least in my experience. So you're left dropping all the odd or even fields and turning one into progressive frames, leaving half the temporal info.

Not sure why there is a problem playing the 59.94p content in my xbmc setup when it deinterlaces 29.97i h264 content to 59.94 on the fly, no problem.
