Screen is Full screen, but video is not
#1
Hi there,

I have a little problem.
Just installed XBMC on Windows 7, did a little tweaking (over/under scan disabled on TV and in Ati Center.

Windows is nicly showing at 1080p full screen.
XBMC is nice full screen.
But... when I start a video, it gets black line all around of aprox 10cm. also on the sides. (video get to small for full screen?)
Changing settings using the "z" key didn't help.

what can it be?
ps. is in 1080p, and 720p video matherial.

SPECs:
Athlon 245e
Asrock 870 Extreme3
Ati 5570 512MB GDDR5
4gb DDR3 - 1600mhz
TV, Panasonic 42" Full HD Plasma

If you're changing the refresh rate for videos then you'll need to set up your desktop at that refresh rate and re-calibrate it.

Toggle in video settings... adjust display refresh to match video, sync playback to video.

@Hitcher,
You are right. XBMC was told to match the video sync and therefor the refreshrate went from 60hz (the one I tweaked) to 59, 50 or 25hz. wich where underscanned.

Only 24hz aka 24p gets the screen resolution to 1000p instead of 1080p.
Why?

@PatK Isn't it better to let it match? or doesnt it make any difference? TV can play 24P.

Blame ATI.

Adjusting the refresh rate can help with telecine judder. I generally don't bother adjusting the refesh rate, though I'd have to concede that I can see some judder on slow panning scenes.

i had this problem.

it's in the ATI catalyst software. you have to adjust the scaling in it. do a google search for ati and scaling or search my posts. i'm sure you will find your answer. I think you will always have lines at the top and bottom depending on the video res of the movie.

I had to set my TV to 1360 x 768, it's native resolution.
