HTPC Help
#1
Morning , Ok I’m new to the HTPC world, as I have been running a PS3 to do most my media until now, I wish to replace it with a Media PC that can do 1080P with True HD audio and DTS.

Not looking at playing games just stream Videos of a raid system in another room via Cat5. I have read allot about HDMI on PCs doing 1080p and Audio, I think I have confused myself more. Is there going to be a difference in audio on a HTPC with HDMI compared to a PS3 or Blueray player.

My Amp is a Marantz 7001. And I currently run 7.1 speakers. The ps3 was outputting via HDMI to the amp and amp to 1080p project via HDMI too. The replacement box I am looking at building will be as follows.

Antec ISK 300 Case
Gigabyte GA-H55N-USB3 M/Board (unless there is a replacement)
Intel I3 540 3.06Ghz CPU (as it should handle the GPU)
4 G Ram – might get away with 2.

Ill install windows 7 and XBMC will be used as main software.

Any ideas and help regarding this would be great. Hope this all makes sense.
Cheers
Dixxion
