installing XBMC via putty fails after "connecting to cache.saurik.com"
#1
Hi,

Have used pwnage tool and loaded an ipsw (4.2.1 aka 4.1.1) into atv2, and am using the standard guide at http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=Ins...MC_on_ATV2 to install XBMC. however, this fails at the last step, apparently failing to contact caching.saurik.com. last line reads 0% [connecting to cache.saurik.com] after which it fails. see log below.

Any takes on how I can get past this last hurdle? I already tried the suggested -apt-get update to no avail.

possibly a problem with your internet connection... the packages are there...

try an apt-get clean and then apt-get autoclean for good measure, then try reinstalling.

Hi,

Thanks tried that now. no change. I agree that there must be some connection problem. I can install some thing (ie update Nito), but not others (Open SSH or XBMC)
Initially i jailbroke with Greenpois0n, but this too seemed to have a connection problem, as I could not use the "inject software" option that came up in the menu. (came back with a download failed error)

Any suggestions on how I cancheck name resulutions or perhaps add a manual entry to connect properly?

Click on some of the links in your first post and see if they work on your internet connection.

I think we have it figured out... messed up DNS
Local ISP DNS resolves cache.saurik.com as 77.67.3.163 and 77.67.3.168
Google DNS resolves cache.saurik.com as 66.114.52.35 and 66.114.52.41
Using google dns the package downloads just fine ...
