Same problem.

The issue (at a guess) is the subtitle renderer, is it enabled? On my ATV it will crash back to frontrow even if the movie doesn't have subs.

In the movie long-press the middle button to bring up the OSD, go Movie Options -> Set Enable Subtitles to off.

Set it as default for all movies.

The subtitle renderer for 720p for big mkv's is broken when VideoToolbox rendering is used. I found surprisingly little information about this, I mean I knew it existed, just never thought it was what was causing all movies to break.

Hope this helps. Laugh

Thanks, wolf!

Turning off subtitles has helped!

I am no watching 720. Awesome.

I did upgrade to the nightly build to get m4a files to be read for music.

great upgrade from the xbox!

when i disable subtitles for the 720p mkv tvshow and then save it for default. it doesn't remember the setting when playing it again or another episode.
yet all movies and other tvshows have the setting as disabled.

yeah same. even though the xbox version is rock solid (understandably), this atv fork just needs maturity.

I would really like the subtitle renderer fixed, as some of my mkvs do have subs even in english which dont work. but fingers crossed for an update soon!

I believe the reason xbmc crashes is because the subtitle format on your file is .ass which is not completely supported by xbmc.
I have the same problem with .ass subtitles but all .srt subtitles play with no problem at all.

Thanks ithaki.

I review the subtitle of the .mkv file is .srt, however, it is still crash and go back to frontrow after play .mkv file.
Anything needs to config?
