New to this... Can't play anything on ATV
#1
Hey guys,

I'm new to the ATV XBMC and I got it installed and everything, got it set up with the SMB connection to my windows machine, it picked up all the movies that I had on that share and when I go to play it goes into a black screen, and immediately goes back out to the main ATV menu. I have .mpg .mkv movies in there and they all do the same.
I installed the NitoTV update as well and no change.

I can't even get to the movie to turn the subtitles off. Any ideas?

I'm running 4.2.1(2100) iOS

Did you turn off auto updates via NitoTV?

Can you download media info, go to view>text, and copy/paste that info for one of the MKVs into http://www.pastebin.com and post the link here

sorry for the ignorance but are you talking about in the windows machine directly on the file? or are you talking about within XBMC? because I don't see any view in the movie list

No I mean to download this program http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en/Download on you windows machine. Drag your MKV into it, do what I said above view>text, then copypaste that info into pastebin.com and place the link here for us to see

Maybe someone else can chime in. I don't really see any problems there. Maybe because it's a .ts file? I'm not sure tho.

You can try muxing it into a mkv. Download MKVToolNix and use MKvMerge to mux it into a .mkv. Then maybe it will play?

I just did and the files play but I now get buffering every 5 seconds.
Running on a wireless N network at 300Mbps (is the ATV2 wireless N? )

yes it is - but wireless is an unpredictable medium ... try an ethernet cable and check if buffering is still there then.
