ATV2 XBMC crashing to frontrow w/ mkv
#1
I normally don't post questions since I can usually find them in the threads. I have researched the threads and have applied the "disable subs" solution on my ATV2 (4.2.1) jailbroken with Seas0npass on the latest official xbmc build. SD movies play fine. It's only when I try to play HD movies encoded in the mkv format that I'm having an issue. It tries to play for one second and then crashes to frontrow. ATV2 is connected to TV through HDMI which is used for video & sound. I have ACS & DTS turned off. Can't figure out what is causing this!

Damn I feel like an idiot! I can't believe I didn't catch that. The ATV2 was purchased a while back so I assumed it had iOS 4.2. Is it possible Seasonpass downloaded and patched iOS 4.3?

Updated to latest nightly build and everything works perfectly except for a few minor audio issues. Thanks for the help!

Yes, this is what it did to mine, I updated to the latest nightly and it's working fine.

As far as I know I did everything correct to get the newest nightly build, I believe April 1st was the one it grabbed.

I still have the same issue as the OP. If hardware acceleration is off, it plays like crap and skips and buffers every half second with junked up sound.

If it is on it dumps back to the apple tv menu with anything that is an MKV.

It seems to work find for avi though.

Is there some other step or setting I am missing?

I think I'm on 4.1.1 (or whatever the older one is), and I was having the same problem with that exact same mkv. I ended up downloading another release and it worked fine.
