Official Microsoft Kinect SDK almost out

Sounds like the features that will be available in the official SDK from microsoft for the Kinect are going to be a lot more robust than what hackers have been able to get out of it so far.

It will be interesting to see what we will be able to turn into XBMC features. Smile

Very exciting. I have been following this for a while now. My media center is the first thing I thought of when I found out the Kinect had been hacked and could control Windows.

Hopefully the API will include some sort of voice to text methods like the Xbox 360 (rather than just giving you access to the microphone to do your own processing). Native support for voice commands in XBMC would be quite nice. I know VoxCommando is pretty impressive and naturally a licence is way cheaper than a kinect, but regardless, I always like avoiding 3rd party software fixes.

I too thought of XBMC first thing.
I want to know how well it will work controlling the interface, when it's in the lounge room, with people walking through or moving about (using laptop, eating dinner etc), or when you are laying on the lounge and it can not pick out the full skeleton..
