Move files from laptop to linux
#1
I have just bought a XBMC box with Linux and XBMC pre installed.

When you turn on it boots directly into XBMC so im wondering how to I move my music collection from my win 7 laptop to my unit, how do I copy and paste into my music folder.

Would I be better doing a fresh install of XBMC?

I have never used Linux before and with the unit booting directly into XBMC I am totally lost. But cannt wait to get home to try and figure it out.

Just to be clear I want to move to files not stream them.

Thanks.

If you want to use only the xbmc GUI you can
1) Connect a USB disk and use the file manager top copy the files over alternatively play them from the USB
2) Share a folder on the Laptop and add a source to it in XBMC and play the files. Don't remember if you can also copy with file manager from here.

If you are willing to learm a bit of linux you can also
1) Create a share on XBMC and access it from the laptop. If you bought it pre-loaded it would be nice if this was also pre-loaded....
2) Install what ever else you want.. Personally I have added a desktop that I access with NX server to get a experience similar to windows remote desktop.

To access linux you can do CTRL-ALT F1 or connect with SSH (download putty to you laptop)
