Dts hd master audio in xbmc???
#1
I've just been searching for the answer and seen mention of ffmpeg :confused2::confused2:

My simple question is can files ripped with makeMKV playing through xbmc output dts hd master at all?

I'm getting PCM mainly but want to utilise my amp and get the dts hd mstr.

It sounds much better to me.

If I need to buy a new graphics/sound card then I'm more than happy to do so Smile

Many thanks for your help.

No - no native support at the moment for either of the HD Audio codecs. Providing you have the suitable equipment the only option at the moment is to set-up xbmc to use an external player.

Do you think it'll ever be possible??

It'll extract and play the lossy core of DTS-HD, so it somewhat supported, just not the HD bits. True HD is converted to PCM and can be sent to your reciever.

Both TrueHD and full DTS-MA bitstreaming support is in development and is being close to finalized.
