hi

when im playing movies, on my htpc through xbmc im noticing two issues
1) once or twice through a movie the playback will stutter and i will get a buffering display, only for a second
2) when the camera is panning the playback will be jerky - as in it will pan, then jerk a little, pan, jerk, pan jerk. its not one fluid pan

windows is installed on one drive, my movies held on a second

anyone have any ideas why?

my setup is the following

Gigabyte GA-G41M-ES2H Motherboard LGA775
Intel Pentium Dual Core E6300 (2.80GHz), LGA775, 1066FSB, 2MB L2 Cache,
2048MB (2 x 1024MB) PC2-6400 800Mhz DDR2 RAM
Panasonic S series 50 inch plasma
samsung 1.5TB 5400rpm spinpoint (windows on this - 1TB of tv shows)
WESTERN DIGITAL WD20EVDS 2TB 32M 7200RPM SATA2 WD AV-GP (movies stored on this - 1Tb worth of movies)

windows 7 32 bit
xbmc dharma
Use a Fullscreen window rather than true fullscreen (off)
Vertical Black Sync (Always Enabled)
Deinterlace (Auto)
The panning problem is probably telecine judder. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telecine_ju...ine_judder for the gory details.

The problem arises because the video frame rate is different to the display refresh rate on your PC. There are various workarounds e.g. enable the "Adjust display refresh rate to match video" setting.

thanks

ill try it out

if that doesnt work what are some other tricks?
To be honest I never managed to eliminate it completely. I just drank more beer while watching the film :-)
