Hello,

I have a question regarding XBMC. I've installed XBMC on a fresh ubuntu 10.10 from a minimal iso, means no gnome, gmd or anything.

Everything works fine except that I now want to have an autologin since the box I installed XBMC on should be a dedicated XBMC machine.

I have found the following interesting article at:
http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title=HOW...Step_Guide

Here under Section: Autoboot to XBMC

I was very excited to find this but the pastebin.com links are all dead :-(

Can somone please help me to find the missing text which was behind the pastebins or has another link/direction for me to achieve autoboot?

TIA
If you're running XBMC successfully via 'xinit xbmc' then about the only remaining thing to do is install xbmc-live.

'sudo apt-get install xbmc-live'

See this thread:
http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...hlight=xci

That'll launch xbmc directly from the console. Both my setups are Ubuntu minimal as well...above thread worked great for both.
Hi,

hm.. very strange "xinit xbmc" works great if executed from the bash after I manually log in.

Now, with xbmc-live installed it boots and then I see flickering and after having some flickers, the machine shuts down. The problem is, that I am now not able to connect tothe box anymore LOL, great :-)

But well since I am a very careful guy I made an image with clonezilla before touching the boot-process which is very fragile under linux it seems..

So this is not working for me somehow..
