Hi everyone,

The first time I installed XBMC Live (10.1 Dharma) on my Revo, everything worked perfectly from the start, no tinkering required. I ended up messing something up and opted for a clean install. This time around, I only have sound coming from my front left speaker; the same problem I was having before I reinstalled.

I'm using a Turtle Beach Audio Advantage Micro to pass optical sound to my receiver, and in my settings I have:

Audio Input: Optical/Coax
Speaker Config: 5.1
Boost Volume Level on Downmix: Yes
Dolby Digital Capable Receiver: Yes
DTS Capable Receiver: Yes
Audio Output Device: USB Sound Device iec 958
Passthrough Output Device: USB Sound Device iec 958

I'm far from informed, but I'm thinking this is an ALSA issue. In my /home/xbmc folder I have no .asoundrc file present. Also when I look at my USB sound card in alsamixer (Card 1 Device 0) it only shows a level for PCM.

I've been searching for a solution for 2 weeks now and I'd appreciate any help at all.

THANK YOU!

Thanks for your details. Have you looked in the forum thread that deals with the Turtle Beach Advanced Micro?

In there I found this:

Quote:I had to comment out "snd-usb-audio index=-2" in /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base to allow the card to grab index 0. You need to reboot to make this change take effect.

Possibly that will get your usb to toslink adapter configured or set you on the right path?

Gave this solution a try but I still have the same problem. I'm getting audio through to my receiver, but the computer doesn't seem to realize how many speakers I have. Anything with MP3 sound only comes from the front left speaker, and anything with 5.1 sound comes from everywhere EXCEPT the front right speaker.

Checked my cable connections and everything is ok. I'm at a loss here guys, any suggestions?
