Hi Smile

I'm trying to install XBMC on my new 64bit version of Ubuntu Natty 11.04 and added the APT line ppa:team-xbmc/ppa through the Software Sources program.

When I close the program it tells me that it "Failed to download repository information. Check your internet connection. Details: W:Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/team-xbmc/ppa/u...ce/Sources 404 Not Found
, W:Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/team-xbmc/ppa/u...4/Packages 404 Not Found
, E:Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

If I then click ok and type "XBMC" into the serch box in the Software Centre program it finds only two entries:

libNFO & TeX Live, but it doesn't show XBMC itself, so I can't install it Sad

I have an AMD Phenom II X4 955 and an NVidia GTX460 graphics card (amongst other things Wink )

Could somebody please point me in the right direction as to what I'm doing wrong or what I need to do to install XBMC please.

Many thanks Smile
You need to do the following:

Quote:Go to the Package Manager. Click Settings -> Repositories. Under “Other Software”, highlight the XBMC PPA and click Edit. For the distribution, change it to maverick.

Then do an update and install xbmc:

Code:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install xbmc

I had the same problem and thats how I got it working, found what needed to be done here.
Perfect!! Everything works! Thank you soooooo much for the quick reply and the spot-on info Smile
