this has officially gone from annoying to full blown psychotic hatred.

Ubuntu 11.04 with the xbmc nightly builds, old HP with an ati xtreme 200 card

power the system up, launch xbmc everything works fine. now, in xbmc do something crazy like finish watching a video, play a few music files and then try to watch a video the screen locks up. the audio still plays but the screen is locked. ubuntu doesn't let me ctl+alt+backspace, when i switch to another tty it doesn't let me kill xbmc, nothing. the only way i have found that fixes it every time involves pulling the power cord, cursing for 10 seconds, and powering it back up. (doesn't work without the 10 seconds of cursing). i have tried to fix this in the past with people telling me kill pulse audio, been there, done that, still does it.

any ideas?
