had the same problem with nightly on ubuntu. You can workaround this problem by manually editing your sources.xml file.(smb://user:password@ipadress/share)
where is this file located ?
uninstall windows live messenger, windows live essentials and anything windows live.

it will then work. encountered the same problem myself 2 weeks ago streaming from a windows SMB share on windows 7 to my MBP on mac OSX snowleopard.

sound good i will try that when ill get back home
aoaaron thx alot works !
np.

I'm having problems atm on OSX 10.6.8 accessing my SMB shares. Can anyone shed any light on it?

I can connect via add network location ---> add, but other than that nothing works. If I click on windows SMB shares, NOTHING comes up. I have 3 machines putting forward shares (one windows, one unraid) and none are being detected.

I can connect via smb://tower but thats about it.
did you recheck your smb.config file after say the 10.6.8 supplemental update?
nope, how do i do that? sorry im new to mac.
Sorry, I thought that you were using SMB to serve from a Mac, not the Mac as a client. That's the only time the SMB config file would be relevant, AFAIK. It should be in /etc/smb.conf

If you never edited it before, it also would not be an issue. It's just that OS X likes to over write that file every update.
